The death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has reached 589.
This was reported on Friday by acting President Delcy Rodriguez. According to her, 2,980 people have been injured.
Since search and rescue operations are ongoing, a significant increase in the death toll is not excluded.
Rodriguez welcomed the arrival of international aid and emergency response teams in a statement to Venezuela's state television VTV.
VTV also reported that search and rescue teams have focused their efforts on La Guaira state, the most affected by the earthquake. The government announced that it has established a supply center for food, water, and medicine for those in need in Caracas./AZERTAC
