Polish President Karol Nawrocki has refused to sign the draft law on the “Status of the Closest Person,” which envisages the legalization of same-sex marriages in the country.
The head of state announced this on his “X” account.
Nawrocki explained that this law envisions the creation of a newly formed institution with a broad spectrum of rights close to those of husband and wife in family law. According to the President, this could open a legal pathway to another form of “marriage.”
The head of state emphasized that, as the guarantor of the Constitution, he cannot approve decisions that would lead to the loss of the special status of marriage as described in Article 18 of the Polish Constitution as a union of a man and a woman, both under the protection and care of the state.//Bakıvaxtı.az
