Internet speed announced in Azerbaijan — Official figures

In the last year, the speed of fixed broadband internet in Azerbaijan has increased by more than 13 percent, while the speed of mobile internet has increased by up to 36 percent.

According to Democrat.az, information from the Information and Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA) states that the global company "Ookla," which evaluates broadband and mobile network quality, has presented the "Speedtest Global Index" report for June.

According to the new report, the median speed of fixed broadband internet in Azerbaijan was 92.18 Mbps, and the median speed of mobile internet was 98.61 Mbps. Compared to the previous year, the speed of fixed broadband internet increased by 10.82 Mbps (13.3 percent), and the speed of mobile internet increased by 26.09 Mbps (35.98 percent).

Regarding the comparison of developed cities, in June, the median speed of fixed broadband internet in Baku was 92.34 Mbps, while the median speed of mobile internet was 119.04 Mbps.

On an annual basis, the speed of fixed broadband internet increased by 13.56 Mbps (17.21 percent), and the speed of mobile internet increased by 30.84 Mbps (34.97 percent).

This growth indicates the digital transformation in the country, the demand for electronic services, and the expansion of remote work and education opportunities, confirming the improvement of Azerbaijan’s position in global internet rankings.
