Azerbaijan and Pakistan have significant potential to further strengthen trade and economic relations.
Medianews.az reports that this was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, in an interview with "Pakistan TV".
According to him, in order to realize this potential, it is necessary to activate contacts among business circles, increase awareness about investment opportunities, and expand cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.
H. Hajiyev characterized the relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan as a strategic partnership based on mutual trust and unwavering support.
He also highly appreciated the mutual understanding between the leaderships of both countries and stated that bilateral cooperation continues to expand in various fields.
"Relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan at political and geostrategic levels are excellent," the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan emphasized.
H. Hajiyev positively evaluated the increase in tourism trips between the citizens of the two countries thanks to the rise in the number of direct flights. He also emphasized the necessity to further develop cultural ties and contacts between the peoples.
Speaking about cooperation in the field of media, H. Hajiyev noted the active participation of Pakistani journalists since the inception of the Shusha Global Media Forum.
He recalled that the forum was proposed by Azerbaijan to restore Shusha’s historical role as an intellectual and cultural dialogue center, as well as an international platform for discussing modern challenges in media including disinformation, artificial intelligence, and strategic communications.
H. Hajiyev also expressed satisfaction with the expansion of cooperation between the media of Pakistan and Azerbaijan, noting that increased exchanges will contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two brotherly peoples.
Furthermore, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan highly appreciated Pakistan's mediation role during the recent tensions in the Middle East.
According to him, Islamabad demonstrated strategic wisdom and responsible leadership by supporting efforts aimed at reducing tension and promoting dialogue. He noted that the Pakistani leadership made significant efforts at a critical moment to promote peace in the region and contributed to creating conditions for de-escalation.
"The Pakistani leadership dedicates its valuable time and efforts to the cause of peace," H. Hajiyev added.
According to him, Pakistan’s constructive role highlights Islamabad’s growing geostrategic importance in global processes and reflects the country’s commitment to regional and international stability.
