Work is underway to implement a visa-free regime between Azerbaijan and Malaysia, and progress on this issue is expected in the coming months.
This was stated by Vüqar Bayramov, the head of the Azerbaijan-Malaysia interparliamentary friendship group of the Milli Majlis, at the meeting of Azerbaijani Tourism Industry Leaders.
According to him, during the meetings held in Malaysia, issues of expanding tourism ties between the two countries and simplifying the visa regime were discussed: "Malaysia has great tourism potential. Currently, Malaysian citizens require a visa to travel to Azerbaijan. Discussions have been held on this matter and I believe that transitioning to a visa-free regime will be possible in the coming months. Because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already submitted the relevant memorandum."
The deputy emphasized that to increase tourist flow from Asian countries, in addition to simplifying visas, it is also important to increase the number of direct flights: "Tourists from Asian countries usually prefer destinations where direct flights are available. Therefore, opening direct flights can make a significant contribution to enhancing Azerbaijan's tourism potential."
