Social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate have been detained in the U.S. state of Florida.
Demokrat.az reports that, according to CBS News, a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Justice stated that the brothers were taken into custody in Miami under the extradition agreement between the United Kingdom and the United States and within the framework of cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the federal law enforcement agency of the Department, told the Associated Press that the warrant for the detention is confidential. He did not provide additional information regarding the charges.
It should be noted that in the United Kingdom, 39-year-old Andrew Tate faces multiple charges including 7 counts of rape, human trafficking, intentional bodily harm, and child exploitation.
38-year-old Tristan Tate is accused in connection with sexual violence, two counts of rape, and human trafficking.
The Tate brothers, who hold both U.S. and UK citizenships, moved to Romania in 2016. They were also detained in that country in 2022 during an investigation related to human trafficking.
