In the January-May period of this year, 54.219 million kWh of electric energy was exported from Azerbaijan to Russia.
According to Medianews.az, based on the data from the State Statistical Committee, the revenue from the export of this volume of electric energy amounted to 2.522 million US dollars.
The export of electric energy to Russia increased by 1.189 million kWh or 2.2% in volume terms, and by 115 thousand US dollars or 4.8% in value terms compared to the same period in 2025.
At the same time, in the first five months of 2026, Azerbaijan imported 1.192 million US dollars worth of electric energy, totaling 30.033 million kWh, from Russia.
This figure is 40 thousand US dollars or 3.5% higher in value terms and 4.496 million kWh or 13% lower in volume terms compared to the same period last year.
In January-May 2026, Azerbaijan exported electric energy worth 12.513 million US dollars, totaling 232.993 million kWh, to three countries in total – Russia, Georgia, and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Compared to the same period last year, the export of electric energy from Azerbaijan decreased by 24.8 million US dollars or 3 times in value terms, and by 425.1 million kWh or 2.8 times in volume terms.
Additionally, in the first five months of this year, Azerbaijan imported electric energy worth 3.401 million US dollars, totaling 71.059 million kWh, from the aforementioned countries. Compared to the same period last year, this is 1.4 million US dollars or 1.7 times more in value terms, and 15.9 million kWh or 28.9% more in volume terms.
