Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary of the United Kingdom David Lammy, as well as Finance Minister Rachel Reeves, have resigned before the announcement of the composition of Andy Burnham's new government.
Medianews.az, citing TASS, reports that both politicians are considered close allies of the resigned Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Earlier, British media wrote that in Andy Burnham's government, the position of Deputy Prime Minister would be held by the deputy leader of the ruling Labour Party, Lucy Powell. It is also anticipated that the current Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, will be appointed as the Finance Minister.
Andy Burnham began performing the duties of Prime Minister around midday on Monday. He replaced Keir Starmer, who was forced to resign under pressure from party deputies following the Labour Party's defeat in the local elections held in May.
