A woman living in Verona, Italy, died after being trapped under belongings in her home due to pathological hoarding.
Medianews.az reports that the woman's acquaintance contacted the police about her disappearance. Although the address was located using the mobile phone signal, the carabinieri were unable to enter the apartment – the entrance had been completely blocked by years of accumulated waste.
Firefighters opened the door and made a narrow passage. The apartment had completely turned into a storage: the rooms were filled with bags, boxes, and shopping items. The woman's body was found under the belongings. According to the investigation's version, she fell, pulled the clutter onto herself, and remained trapped underneath.
Experts stated that this incident is related to syllogomania – a psychological disorder called "Plushkin Syndrome." This syndrome is characterized by a person's fear of discarding unused items, leading them to accumulate them.
