In the first half of this year, 13 people committing corruption crimes were caught in the act, and 54 cases were sent to court.
Medianews.az reports that this was stated at an operational meeting at the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office.
It was noted that 38 criminal cases were initiated by the operational agencies. As a result of 15 conducted operational-search measures, 13 individuals committing corruption crimes were caught in the act, and of those wanted, 2 persons were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities.
During the reporting period, the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate completed the preliminary investigation of 78 criminal cases involving 108 persons. Of the completed investigations, 54 criminal cases involving 102 persons were sent to the relevant courts for trial with indictments.
Of the 54 criminal cases sent to the courts, 18 belonged to the category of less serious crimes, 31 to serious crimes, and 5 to especially serious crimes. Among these cases, 25 were of a multi-episode and complex nature.
