The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has approved a change in the rules for foreign students, cultural exchange program participants, and foreign media representatives regarding their stay in the country.
Medianews.az reports that "Reuters" has released this information citing a notice published in the U.S. Federal Register.
According to the document, instead of the current system—where the duration of stay in the U.S. depends on the length of education, exchange program, or the term of employment with the U.S. media company—a fixed visa validity period will be set for foreigners in these categories.
The Department of Homeland Security noted that the adopted rule must be reviewed by the U.S. Congress, after which the effective date of the rule will be determined.
