The UAE's "Dana Gas" company, the operator of the largest "Khor Mor" gas field in northern Iraq, has suspended the operation of its main production facilities due to security threats and rising tensions in the region.
Medianews.az reports that this information was released by "Al Jazeera," citing the company's representative.
It was noted that the halt in production has caused a decrease of 2,500 MW in the region's electricity generation capacity. The "Khor Mor" field, which has significant gas reserves, is the main fuel source for electricity production in the region.
Previously, after a drone struck an oil tanker in Basra, the loading of crude oil at all Iraqi terminals was suspended.
"Khor Mor" is one of the largest and most resource-rich oil and natural gas fields in Iraqi Kurdistan. It is located in the Sulaymaniyah province, 180 km southeast of Erbil. The development of the field is carried out by the "Pearl Petroleum" consortium (main participants "Dana Gas" and "Crescent Petroleum"). The geological reserves of gas are estimated at more than 300 billion cubic meters.
