Cheap sunglasses harm eye health can risk

Experts state that cheap and low-quality sunglasses can cause more harm rather than protect the eyes.

Medianews.az reports that the risk mainly lies in the quality of the lenses and UV filtration.

Although the use of sunglasses increases with warming weather, this does not automatically mean protection. Low-quality products do not properly block the sun’s rays and allow harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays to penetrate the eyes.

Experts note that dark-colored lenses alone are not considered protective. Glasses without UV filters cause dilation of the pupil and allow more rays to enter the eye. This can sometimes be more harmful than not wearing glasses at all.
Non-standard lenses cause the eye to tire more because they do not properly refract light. As a result, headaches, blurred vision, and long-term vision deterioration may occur.

Uncertified glasses can damage not only vision but also the surface of the eye. With prolonged use, burning, dryness, and sensitivity to light increase.

High-quality sunglasses have a protective filter such as UV400. This blocks harmful rays and ensures less eye fatigue.

Experts emphasize that when choosing sunglasses, attention should be paid not only to appearance and price but also to their protective properties.
