Artificial intelligence in court won its first victory

For the first time in the England court system, a legal defense prepared by artificial intelligence has been successfully concluded. The court ruled in favor of the claimant in a process conducted based on case documents prepared by an AI law firm.

Medianews.az reports that a person working as an independent consultant in human resources in England purchased legal services by paying approximately 400 pounds to an AI legal platform to recover a debt of 7,000 pounds sterling.

In April of last year, an AI system approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) independently prepared all legal documents and defense materials before the court. The system responded to the arguments presented by the opposing professional law firm, preparing a comprehensive document package for four witness statements and a three-hour court hearing.

The case was heard at the Wandsworth District Court in London, and the court ruled in favor of the claimant, ordering the debt to be repaid.

Philip Young, co-founder of the AI law firm, called this decision a historic event in terms of the administration of justice. According to him, small business owners often refuse to defend their rights because court costs exceed the required amount. AI can eliminate this problem by significantly reducing the cost of legal services.

The winning party also stated that conducting this process normally would have been both expensive and lengthy and stressful. Thanks to the legal support provided by AI, they were able to defend their rights more comfortably.

Dominic Lee, the lawyer representing the claimant in court, noted that the AI prepared the case extremely accurately and systematically. He emphasized that speaking in the courtroom, presenting arguments before the judge, and managing the process still remain the core strengths of a human lawyer.//Qafqazinfo
