In recent years, cases of constipation in children have increased.
Medianews.az reports that specialists mainly associate this with excessive use of digital screens.
According to research, the level of constipation in children varies between approximately 3–5 percent, while one in four adolescents faces this problem.
Experts state that children use phones and other digital screens for an average of 6–8 hours a day, which negatively affects their lifestyle. Especially using the phone in the toilet causes the physiological process to prolong and eventually leads to constipation.
According to doctors, the normal time for children to go to the toilet should be 3–5 minutes. However, due to phone use, this time sometimes extends up to 30 minutes, which is considered one of the main causes of functional constipation.
Moreover, using the phone in the toilet can create other health risks. Specialists note that this habit increases the risk of anal fissures, hemorrhoids, and various infections caused by bacteria and viruses transferred from the phone to the hands.
Doctors advise parents to reduce children's digital screen addiction and ban phone use in the toilet. According to them, if the toilet process takes more than 5 minutes, other causes of the problem should be investigated.
