New realities are taking shape in the region against the backdrop of steps taken towards the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The increase in diplomatic contacts and mutual visits between the two countries creates a basis for a transition to the humanitarian and cultural level.
Many think that cultural exchange, the organization of joint projects, and artists performing in front of each other's audiences could contribute to rebuilding mutual understanding and trust in the future.
The attitude of Azerbaijani artists towards performing before an Armenian audience is not unequivocal.
Medianews.az reports that in an interview with modern.az, Honored Artist Elza Seyidcahan stated that she has been thinking about this matter for some time.
“In the near future, I am preparing for my solo concert titled "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!" in the central square of Armenia. Of course, at that concert, I will also perform my famous and beloved poems.”
E. Seyidcahan will specifically recite the poems "My Things," "Knitting," and "My Thread" at the concert for the Armenians as well.
Singer Nura Suri emphasized, unlike Elza Seyidcahan, that it will be easier to think about giving concerts in Armenia for the younger generation:
“The future will show this. It will not be difficult for young performers to give concerts in Armenia. However, my mother was wounded in the Karabakh war and is disabled in the second group. Both of my parents fought for the homeland. There are artists I know who are children of martyrs. Take Mehin Humbatova, for example. I think we are not yet ready to give concerts in Armenia. This can be done by the younger generation in the future.”
