A total of 16 Azerbaijani citizens, including 7 women and 9 children, were repatriated from Syria on July 18-19.
Medianews.az reports that this was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
First of all, the location, identity, and Azerbaijani citizenship of the repatriates were determined.
Members of the Working Group, composed of state agencies responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens facing crisis situations in foreign countries, were dispatched to Syria, and the initial medical and psychological examinations of the repatriates were ensured.
Subsequently, the Azerbaijani embassies in Syria and Turkey, including the Consulate General in Istanbul, carried out the necessary coordination work, provided citizens with certificates of return to Azerbaijan and plane tickets, and brought them to the country.
Relevant measures are planned to be implemented regarding the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into society.
It was stated that the Azerbaijani government will continue to take the necessary measures for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens who have become victims of armed conflict on the territory of foreign countries.
