Atletico forward Antoine Griezmann may complete his transfer to the American club Orlando City in the coming days.
Medianews.az reports, citing Lent.az, that after Orlando City's sporting director Ricardo Moreira's arrival in Madrid, the negotiations have reached an advanced stage. The transfer is expected to be completed shortly.
It is not yet known when Griezmann will join his new team. Orlando City wants to sign the forward before the MLS transfer window closes on March 26, while the 34-year-old Frenchman wants to finish this season with Atletico.
Griezmann has been playing for Atletico since 2021 and previously played for the "matrasçılar" from 2014 to 2019. He has played a total of 480 games for the Madrid club, scoring 210 goals and delivering 95 assists, making him the club's all-time top scorer.
This season, Griezmann has played 35 games for Atletico, scored 12 goals, and made two assists. His contract runs until the summer of 2027.
Atletico is in fourth place in the Spanish league table, 13 points behind the leader Barcelona. Today, the "matrasçılar" will host Brugge in the second leg of the Champions League playoff round (the first game ended 3-3).
