A cheap agent for whitening dirty clothes has been discovered

Hydrogen peroxide helps to restore the brightness of white clothes, remove stains, and has a gentler effect on fabric fibers than chlorine-based bleaches.

Demokrat.az
reports that a professional cleaning expert, Jaklin Stein, spoke about this to the publication "Southern Living."

According to the expert, hydrogen peroxide, being an oxygen-based bleach, helps break down stains and whiten faded white items again.

"This agent is especially suitable for white towels, socks, and shirts that have lost their brightness over time. It does not leave additional chemical residues and does not damage fabric fibers over time like chlorine bleaches," Stein stated.

However, she noted that it may not be possible to completely remove old and deep stains with a single wash.

"If a shirt has yellowing or old stains accumulated over the years, do not expect it to be completely renewed with one wash. Sometimes several washes or treatments are required for this," the expert added.

Stein recommended checking the care label of the garment before using hydrogen peroxide. This allows determining whether treating the item with this agent is safe or not.

According to her, visible stains should be pre-treated separately. For example, some hydrogen peroxide should be poured onto underarm or food stains, left for 10–15 minutes, then the garment should be washed normally.

Stein stated that if the stain begins to lighten before placing it in the washing machine, it indicates that the initial treatment was done correctly.

The procedure for using hydrogen peroxide in the washing machine is as follows:

* Separate white and colored clothes from each other.
* Add regular detergent.
* Pour about one cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide into the bleach compartment.
* Wash in warm or hot water according to the properties of the fabric.
* Check that the stains are completely cleaned before drying.

The following steps are recommended to soak white clothes in hydrogen peroxide:

* Fill a bucket, basin, or bathtub with warm water.
* Add about one cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water and mix.
* Fully submerge the white clothes in the solution.
* Soak for 30 minutes to an hour depending on the degree of contamination.
* Then wash with detergent as usual.
* Check the result before drying, then dry either outdoors or in a dryer.

Experts add that following the care instructions of the garment when using hydrogen peroxide is essential to prevent damage to the fabric.
