In the 2026-2027 season, 82 teams are planned to be admitted to the UEFA Champions League, 45 to the Europa League, and 111 to the Conference League.
Medianews.az reports that there are four qualifying rounds in each of the three tournaments. According to the regulations, teams eliminated in the first round of the Champions League move to the Conference League, and those eliminated in the subsequent rounds move to the Europa League; teams eliminated in the Europa League qualifiers move to the Conference League; in the leagues with 36 teams, those finishing in the top 8 proceed to the round of 16, while teams placed 9th to 24th enter the round of 32.
In the 2025-2026 season, "Sabah," the champion of Azerbaijan and the national cup winner, will start in the first round of the Champions League.
The silver medalist is admitted to the first round of the Europa League, the bronze medalist to the second round of the Conference League, and the country's fourth-placed team to the first round.
In the national championship's top division, "Qarabağ" and "Turan Tovuz" are contenders for the silver and bronze medals, while "Neftçi" and "Zirə" are aiming for fourth place.
Medianews.az also notes that the list of champions of Azerbaijan's championship and national cup winners has been updated.
"Qarabağ" has been the national champion 12 times, "Neftçi" 9 times, "Kəpəz" 3 times, "Şəmkir," "Bakı," and "İnter" (currently "Şamaxı") twice, and "Turan" (Tovuz), "Xəzər Lənkəran," and "Sabah" once.
"Qarabağ" has won the cup 8 times, "Neftçi" 6 times, "Kəpəz" 4 times, "Bakı" and "Xəzər Lənkəran" 3 times, "Keşlə" (currently "Şamaxı"), "Qəbələ," and "Sabah" twice, and "İnşaatçı" (Bakı), "Şəfa" once.
Both tournaments have been held since 1992.
