Lebanon and Israel have agreed on a ceasefire.

Lebanese and Israeli representatives have reached an agreement on the implementation of a ceasefire regime following talks held in the USA.

This was stated in a declaration issued by the US Department of State.

It was noted that the parties held talks on June 2-3 in Washington under the mediation of the United States.

According to the statement, the agreement will be implemented on the condition that "Hezbollah" fully ceases fire and withdraws all its forces from the south of the Litani River.

According to the Department of State, the parties also agreed, with US mediation, to begin soon establishing special zones under the control of the Lebanese army, where non-state armed groups will not participate, as a pilot project.

It was noted that these steps might facilitate reaching a comprehensive agreement on peace and security.

The parties also agreed to continue talks on political and security issues in the week starting June 22. The US has stated that it will play a coordinating role between the parties during this period./axar.az
