The Iranian national team has officially appealed to FIFA to prohibit the use of LGBT attributes and the holding of related ceremonies during the match against the Egyptian team in the 3rd round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Medianews.az citing Oxu.az reports that the publication "RMC Sport" has provided information about this.
"The Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran takes this issue very seriously and has conveyed its firm position to FIFA leadership. Iran and Egypt are two Muslim countries sharing deep cultural and religious ties. The views expressed by both federations reflect the common values and beliefs of the populations of these countries. Our principled position is that no ceremonies or advertising events related to the mentioned movement should be organized in the stadium," the publication cited a representative, who preferred not to disclose the name of the Iranian team.
It should be noted that this match will take place next Saturday at the "Lumen Field" stadium in Seattle. The kickoff whistle will sound at 07:00 Baku time.
