Alarm signal at İncirlik - What happened?

At the İncirlik base in Turkey, where NATO forces including US soldiers are stationed, an alarm signal was sounded on the night of March 13.

Medianews.az reports that NATO has not yet released an official statement regarding the matter.

Since February 28, when the US and Israel started war with Iran, two rockets have been fired towards this base from Iran, both of which were intercepted in the air.

İncirlik is a city in the Adana province. On March 12, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense declared that İncirlik is a Turkish base: “The presence of American soldiers does not mean it is a US base. The 10th Air Command is located in İncirlik city, Adana province. Our F-16 fighter jets, tanker fleet, and unmanned aerial vehicles are stationed here. All facilities belong to Turkey.”

According to reports in the Turkish media, the alarm signal at İncirlik on the night of March 13 was heard around 3:30 AM and lasted approximately five minutes.

In 2015, as part of a NATO mission at İncirlik, Spain’s army deployed a “Patriot” air defense system.

At the İncirlik base, in addition to the US and Spain, soldiers from Poland and Qatar also serve.
