Does inactivity increase the risk of cancer?

Recent scientific research shows that lack of physical activity can increase the risk of a number of serious diseases, including cancer. According to experts, a sedentary lifestyle leads to weakening of metabolism, the development of excess weight, and impairment of immune system function in the body.

Milli.Az reports that medical experts state that individuals who lead a sedentary lifestyle for a long period of time are observed to have a particularly higher risk of colon, breast, and uterine cancer. Lack of physical activity creates conditions for hormonal imbalance and increased inflammatory processes, which may provide a favorable environment for the development of cancer cells.

According to research, regular physical activity regulates insulin levels in the body, strengthens the immune system, and activates mechanisms that prevent the multiplication of cancer cells. At least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity daily—such as brisk walking, cycling, or light exercise—is considered beneficial for health.

Experts emphasize that inactivity increases not only the risk of cancer but also cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity. In this regard, forming a healthy lifestyle, especially prioritizing physical activity from a young age, is of great importance.

It should be noted that along with proper nutrition, avoiding harmful habits, and regular medical check-ups, an active lifestyle is one of the main protective factors in preventing cancer.
