The Minister of Finance, co-chairman of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Montenegro, Sahil Babayev, met with the delegation led by Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović, who is on a visit to our country.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan-Montenegro relations are based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect, and partnership, and it was noted that these relations are built on a solid foundation laid by the Declaration on Friendship and Partnership signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Montenegro in 2013.
S. Babayev highlighted the role of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Montenegro and stated that this mechanism is an important platform for turning political will into concrete economic results. It was noted that the agenda of the next meeting of the Joint Commission, scheduled for March 2026, will cover a wide range of issues regarding the diversification of trade, investments in the non-oil sector, green energy, tourism, infrastructure, and cooperation in small and medium-sized enterprises.
Trade and investment issues were also discussed at the meeting, and Montenegrin companies were invited to take advantage of investment opportunities in industrial zones and other priority sectors in Azerbaijan.
For his part, E. Ibrahimović expressed Montenegro's great importance attached to developing relations with Azerbaijan and noted that political dialogue and high-level mutual contacts play an important role in deepening bilateral relations. He emphasized that there is favorable potential for expanding cooperation in economic, energy, tourism, and humanitarian fields.
A mutual exchange of views was held on issues of common interest at the meeting.
