A bear climbed an electric pole in the US state of New Mexico.
Medianews.az reports that it was not possible to rescue it and in the end, it died as a result of electric shock.
A passing driver saw a large bear stuck at the very top of an electric and telephone pole and filmed the moments on a mobile phone. The footage quickly spread widely on social networks and foreign media.
At first, the woman thought the bear was dead, but after she saw it moving, she reported it to the 911 emergency service.
The video shows the bear firmly holding on to the crossarm of the wooden pole located immediately below the electric lines trying to maintain its balance at height.
The 911 operator advised the driver to move away from the area and stated that the relevant authorities had already been notified. Officials explained that it was not possible to carry out a rescue operation, arguing that tranquilizing the bear was dangerous as the animal could fall from a height and sustain serious injuries.
According to foreign media, the bear, which remained on the pole until a safe rescue was organized, died from an electric shock after touching the power lines.
Wildlife experts say that bears sometimes climb electric poles like trees to escape danger when they are scared by the sound of cars, people, or dogs.
