The number of tourists coming to Azerbaijan has decreased – Most of them have come from these countries

In January-June of this year, 1,092,600 foreigners and stateless persons from 189 countries came to Azerbaijan, which is 10.3% less compared to the same period last year.

Medianews.az reports this citing the State Statistics Committee.

According to the information, 28.1% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 21.0% from Turkey, 8.2% from Iran, 4.9% from Georgia, 4.6% from Kazakhstan, 3.2% from Uzbekistan, 2.9% from Pakistan, 2.8% from India, 2.6% from Israel, 2.4% from China, 1.8% from Saudi Arabia, 1.6% from Ukraine, 1.3% from Turkmenistan, 1.1% each from Germany and the United Kingdom, and 12.4% were citizens and stateless persons from other countries; 68.7% were men and 31.3% were women.

Compared with January-June 2025, in January-June 2026 the number of arrivals from European Union member countries increased by 9.3% to 54,400, arrivals from CIS countries increased by 1.8% to 430,400, arrivals from Gulf countries decreased by 31.4% to 127,700, and arrivals from other countries decreased by 14.1% to 480,100.

Of the foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country, 71.1% used air transport, 27.5% used railway and automobile transport, and 1.4% used maritime transport.

Compared with January-June 2025, in January-June 2026 the total number of Azerbaijani citizens going abroad decreased by 5.1% to 937,400. Of our citizens, 41.5% went to Turkey (3.5% more compared to the same period last year), 17.1% to the Russian Federation (3.0% less), 11.7% to Georgia (0.2% more), 6.2% to Iran (41.0% less), and 23.5% to other countries (7.7% less). Of those who went abroad, 66.5% were men and 33.5% were women.

In January-June 2026, of the Azerbaijani citizens going abroad, 69.8% used air transport, 28.1% used railway and automobile transport, and 2.1% used maritime transport.
