“Shamakhi” head coach Ayxan Abbasov grabbed attention with his interesting statements.
Medianews.az reports, referring to Qafqazinfo, that he spoke after yesterday's 1:0 victory over “Sumqayit” in the 24th round of the Misli Premier League.
A.Abbasov responded to the question “You achieve good results, but do you find work in ‘poor’ teams?” as follows: “The answer to this question lies within ourselves. Until we support ourselves, things will not improve. I see famous coaches criticize local coaches and covet their positions. When will we value ourselves and club management support local coaches? Only then can it work. But currently, 90 percent of club management does not stand behind local coaches. It’s a long issue.
Many club directors should already leave. They do not achieve results. They should be questioned as well. How many coaches will change? The issue is not only the coach. There are many specialists who keep the team going, but incorrect transfers made by the management create problems. Our problem is not only the coach. Local coaches should also support themselves and not speak behind each other’s backs.”
The coach also shared his thoughts regarding criticisms about holding both the head coach position at “Shamakhi” and the Azerbaijan national team simultaneously. He responded to being criticized for working in two positions as follows: “I know, they should not rush; I will work in one place starting summer.”
