The funeral ceremony of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will take place in June.
Medianews.az reports referring to "Iran International" that this was stated by the deputy head of Tehran City Municipality, Mohammadamin Tavakkolizadeh.
According to him, the organization of the funeral ceremony has been entrusted to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Currently, discussions are ongoing to extend the preparation period in order to better organize the event.
Tavakkolizadeh said that 3 days have been allocated for the farewell ceremony with Khamenei, and the ceremony held in Tehran will last at least 24 hours.
The deputy head of Tehran City Municipality said that before the burial, mourning marches will be organized with Khamenei's body in the cities of Qom and Mashhad.
According to the will of Iran's former Supreme Leader, he will be buried in the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad.
It should be noted that Ali Khamenei died in the first phase of the US and Israeli attacks that began on February 28. After that, the country's leadership passed to his son Mojtaba Khamenei. Although memorial ceremonies were held in various regions of the country on the 40th day of Khamenei's death in April, the official funeral ceremony did not take place due to security reasons.
