Medianews.az has looked into UEFA's club rankings.

In the ranking, where England, Italy, Spain, Germany, and France occupy the top five, Azerbaijan is in 27th place among 55 UEFA members. Turkey is 9th, Ukraine 25th, Russia 30th, Moldova 33rd, Armenia 34th, Kazakhstan 37th, Latvia 39th, Estonia 43rd, Lithuania 46th, Belarus 50th, and Georgia 53rd.

For the 2025-2026 season of club tournaments, 96 teams remain. In the Conference League, 8 teams are in the round of 16 and 16 teams are in the round of 32.

The league stages of the Champions League and Europa League are about to conclude. To survive these rounds of 36 teams, a team must achieve at least 24th place. It has been confirmed that 15 teams in the Champions League and 19 teams in the Europa League will continue their seasons.

Azerbaijani representative “Qarabağ” is ranked 18th in the league stage of the Champions League.

UEFA’s club ranking is based on coefficients earned over the last five seasons of club tournaments. A win in the qualification rounds earns 1 point, a draw half a point, and in subsequent rounds, a win yields 2 points, a draw 1 point.

Teams reaching the league stage of the Champions League receive 6 bonus points; teams in the top 8 of that round receive another 6 bonus points, those in 9th to 16th places get 4 bonus points, and those in 17th to 24th places receive 2 bonus points. From the round of 16 onwards, each stage grants 1.5 bonus points.

In the Europa League league stage, teams placing in the top 8 receive 6 bonus points, those ranked 9th to 16th get 4 bonus points, and those 17th to 24th earn 2 bonus points. From the round of 16 onwards, each stage grants 1 bonus point.

In the Conference League league stage, teams in the top 8 receive 4 bonus points, those ranked 9th to 16th get 2 bonus points, and those in 17th to 24th earn 1 bonus point. From the round of 16 onwards, each stage corresponds to 0.5 bonus points.

The total points are divided by the number of clubs from the country qualified for continental tournaments, and the coefficient is calculated to three decimal places. This season Azerbaijan has obtained a coefficient of 5.625.
