On April 23, an incident occurred in a school in Baku involving a student self-inflicting injury.
Medianews.az reports that according to information received by Musavat.com, the incident happened in the morning during the first shift at secondary school No. 145 in the capital. Specifically, a girl student studying in the 7th grade harmed herself.
According to eyewitnesses of the incident, the student first took certain medications at home. Then, in the school restroom, she cut a vein on her arm using a compass. It is alleged that she also sustained a minor injury to the throat area.
The incident caused alarm among other students. They immediately informed the teachers and the school administration.
Classmates who wished to remain anonymous stated that one day before the incident, the student posted on social media, writing, "My parents wish for me to enter university, but I choose death."
It should be noted that various claims have been made regarding the causes of the incident. Some people link it to domestic pressure, while others suggest there may be other reasons. The student was immediately given preliminary medical assistance; emergency medical teams and her parents were notified. It is currently reported that her condition is satisfactory.
Law enforcement agencies are investigating the matter.
