In the first quarter of 2026, goods worth 15 billion 927 million manats were sold to consumers in the retail trade network. This represents a 3.7 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
So, what do we spend more money on?

Economist deputy Vuqar Bayramov stated in response to a question from Medianews.az that in the first three months of the year, food products, beverages, and tobacco products worth 8 billion 774 million manats, and non-food goods worth 7 billion 152 million manats were sold to consumers: “In the first quarter of the year, a 1.3 percent increase was recorded for food products, beverages, and tobacco products, and a 6.6 percent increase for non-food goods. This means that consumers spend 55 percent of their money on purchasing food products.
Sharp increases in spending were observed in two directions. Consumption of computers, telecommunications equipment, and printed products increased by 32.6%, and pharmaceuticals and medical supplies increased by 25.4%. The increase in the consumption of pharmaceutical products is associated with both demand and the rise in prices.”
