In recent years, there has been a significant increase in obesity cases in our country. Doctors and nutrition specialists state that the rapid spread of overweight is directly related to both lifestyle and eating habits.
According to medical specialists quoted by Milli.Az, especially after the pandemic, the decrease in physical activity, the increasingly sedentary nature of work and school life, as well as the widespread consumption of high-calorie foods have sharply increased obesity rates.
Experts list the main reasons for the spread of obesity as follows:
Sedentary lifestyle reduces daily movement to a minimum, weakens metabolism, and accelerates fat accumulation.
The increasing consumption of fast-food and ready meals — cheap, quickly prepared, but high-calorie products — increases obesity.
Sweet drinks and carbonated waters are a hidden source of calories because they contain more sugar than they appear.
Stress and insomnia disrupt hormonal balance and increase appetite.
Genetic predisposition makes some individuals more prone to being overweight.
Doctors warn that obesity is not only a visual change but also a serious health risk. Excess weight increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, hormonal disorders, and even some types of cancer.
Specialists advise citizens to walk at least 30 minutes a day, limit fast-food consumption, drink water instead of sugary drinks, and avoid heavy meals before bedtime to play a major role in preventing obesity.
In their opinion, if this trend continues, obesity may become one of the country's most serious health problems in the near future.
