A group of experts from the Pesticide Action Network UK (Pesticide Action Network of Great Britain) analyzed data on chemical residues in government-controlled agricultural products of the country.
Milli.Az reports that the analysis revealed high levels of pesticides and chemicals in 12 types of fruits and vegetables.
According to the report, a quarter of the vegetables and more than three-quarters of the fruits contain multiple pesticide residues.
In the extensive study conducted this year, a total of 123 different chemicals were identified in 17 different fruits and vegetables. Of these, 42 were pesticides associated with cancer, and 21 were substances considered harmful to the hormonal system. According to scientists, these substances can lead to birth defects, sleep disorders, and reproductive problems.
