Two of the three rounds of the group stage of the 23rd FIFA World Cup hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico have passed.
Medianews.az reports that Mexico, the USA, Germany, France, Norway, Argentina, and Colombia have advanced to the next stage, while Haiti, Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, and Panama have been eliminated in the group.
The tournament, which started on June 11, features 48 teams divided into 12 groups. The top two teams in each group and the 8 best third-placed teams earn tickets to the round of 16.
When points are equal, the result of the direct match between the teams is taken as the main criterion. The remaining criteria are: goal difference, number of goals scored, fewest official warnings (yellow and red cards), and the team's FIFA ranking.
The group stage ends on June 28. The round of 16 is scheduled from June 28 to July 4, the round of 8 from July 4 to July 7, the quarterfinals from July 9 to July 12, the semifinals on July 14-15, and the third place match and final on July 19.
