The request by the Prosecutor General's Office of Turkmenistan for the extradition of Turkmen citizen Dovletgeldi Nursakhedovich Bashimov, born in 1979, for the purpose of bringing him to criminal responsibility has been granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It was reported that Dovletgeldi Bashimov, who was internationally wanted in Turkmenistan for being accused of committing crimes involving the illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of substances with strong effects that are not narcotic or psychotropic, as part of a prearranged group for the purpose of sale, was identified and detained in Azerbaijan in March 2026, and a preventive measure of arrest was chosen against him.
In accordance with the requirements of the 1993 January 22 Convention "On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases," a decision was made on the extradition of the accused person. He was handed over to the authorized authority of Turkmenistan accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
