The hormone that controls our life - CORTISOL

Cortisol, known as the "stress hormone," is one of the main hormones that regulate the body's stress response and plays an important role in daily life.

Medianews.az reports that cortisol, secreted by the adrenal glands, affects metabolism, the immune system, and blood pressure.

It is stated that this hormone participates in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and also increases blood glucose levels, providing energy to the body.

According to the information, cortisol levels vary throughout the day and are higher in the morning and lower in the evening. For this reason, its measurement is usually carried out in the morning.

Experts note that cortisol does not always increase only due to stress. In some cases, excessive increase due to pathological reasons can lead to Cushing's syndrome. This condition is associated with the adrenal glands or pituitary gland secreting hormones excessively beyond normal.

It is reported that high cortisol levels can show themselves with symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, fat accumulation in the abdomen and face, thinning of the skin, muscle weakness, high blood pressure, emotional changes, depression, and anxiety.

It is noted that lifestyle plays an important role in maintaining cortisol balance. Stress management, regular physical activity, healthy nutrition, breathing exercises, and adequate sleep are shown as key factors in regulating hormone levels.//Milli.Az
