In India, one person died and an elderly woman was seriously injured as a result of an elephant attack.
Medianews.az reports that the tragedy occurred in the state of Odisha.
35-year-old Binod Behera was attacked by an elephant while collecting fallen mangoes in the forest. The animal trampled the man to death. Although local residents intervened in the incident, they were unable to save him.
Another incident took place in a nearby village. Elderly woman Mandodari Dehuri was also attacked by an elephant while gathering fruit. Neighbors rescued the woman and took her to the hospital. It is reported that her condition is serious.
After the incident, forest department officials were deployed to the area. The local authorities have called on residents not to go to the forest alone and to be especially cautious during the fruit season.
