Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics, who was on an official visit in Azerbaijan, was at "Baku White City" on April 22.
Medianews.az reports that Ruslan Sadykhov, the executive director of the "Baku White City" project, informed the Latvian president about the work carried out here and the ongoing activities.
It was noted that the area was excessively polluted with oil industry waste for more than 150 years and numerous oil reservoirs were formed here, so it was once known as "Black City." At the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, this area has been transformed into a rare ecological project and a modern residential complex on a global scale.
The "Baku White City" project is one of the brightest examples of modern urban planning concepts worldwide. The implementation of the project began on December 24, 2011, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. The project was developed based on ecologically clean, sustainable, and "smart city" principles.//Telegraph
