The dietitian warned: Kiwi is not beneficial for everyone.

Kiwi is considered one of the fruits rich in vitamins and minerals. Especially rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants, this fruit is considered beneficial for strengthening the immune system and improving the digestive process. However, specialists state that despite the benefits of kiwi, its consumption should be limited or even completely stopped for some people.

According to Medianews.az, citing foodinfo.az, dietitian-nutritionist Sofiya Kovanova explained that kiwi can have a negative effect on health in certain diseases.

According to the specialist, a healthy person should not eat more than three kiwis in a day. This is approximately equivalent to 220 grams of the product. Thanks to the enzyme actinidin and dietary fibers found in kiwi, it supports the functioning of the digestive system, but not every organism reacts the same way to this fruit.

Sofiya Kovanova noted that kiwi should be used with caution in cases of gastritis and high stomach acidity. The natural acids in the fruit can irritate the stomach lining and intensify existing discomfort. Therefore, it is not recommended for such patients to consume kiwi without a doctor's advice.

According to the dietitian, people with kiwi allergy should also stay away from this product. Allergic reactions can be caused by seed proteins, the enzyme actinidin, benzoates, salicylates, and other biologically active substances in the fruit. During an allergy, skin rashes, itching, burning sensation in the oral cavity, and even respiratory problems may occur.

The specialist advised people with digestive system diseases to be careful. Inflammatory diseases of the intestine and gastrointestinal tract can sometimes cause symptoms to worsen after consuming kiwi. In this regard, it is important for persons with chronic digestive problems to consult a doctor before consuming the fruit.

Sofiya Kovanova stated that kiwi should also be used with caution in kidney diseases. Especially in people with acute kidney diseases and urinary stone problems, some components of the fruit can cause additional discomfort. Therefore, in such cases, the diet should be determined individually.

The expert also issued a warning to pregnant and breastfeeding women. According to her, although kiwi is generally considered a beneficial product, it can cause allergic reactions in the baby in some cases. Hence, it is advisable to seek medical advice regarding the consumption of this fruit during pregnancy and lactation.

Specialists emphasize that the benefits of any food may vary depending on the person's health condition. Kiwi is no exception. Therefore, individuals with any chronic disease should obtain expert opinion before adding a new product to their daily diet.

According to dietitians, properly chosen and balanced nutrition is one of the main conditions for maintaining health. Even fruits considered the most beneficial can sometimes cause undesirable effects on the body. For this reason, the selection of foods should be made taking individual characteristics into account.
