Why was this school closed in Baku?

General secondary school No. 122 located in the Qışlaq area of Zirə settlement, Khazar district, Baku city has been closed.

Medianews.az reports that parents of the students have appealed regarding this matter.

They claim that on May 24 (Sunday), teachers warned the parents about this and asked them to direct their children to other nearby schools.

The parents state that approximately 75 students have been studying at the school, and for years some classes have been combined to operate.

The main concern of the parents is that such a step was taken close to the end of the school year and the transfer of students to other schools was not ensured. They said that there is no school near the Qışlaq area, and they are forced to take their children to other distant schools either by bus or private car. The parents of the students also noted that the road infrastructure in the area has not been renewed. In short, the parents face both time and financial losses.

It was stated from general secondary school No. 122 that due to the small number of students, optimization is planned from the 2026-2027 academic year.

It was emphasized that the parents have been informed about this.

It was noted that analyses are being conducted considering the number of students and staffing issues in general education institutions, and a process of rationalization of educational institutions is being implemented.
The purpose of implementing rationalization is to optimize the existing school network, efficiently allocate resources, and form a more sustainable educational infrastructure and quality educational environment. (Bizim.Media)
