The Middle East tension shook European aviation: Lufthansa cancels 20-minute flight

Rising aviation fuel prices due to tensions in the Middle East have seriously affected air transport in Europe.

Medianews.az reports that the German airline "Lufthansa" has announced that approximately 20,000 short-haul flights planned by October will be canceled due to rising costs. The company is also optimizing flight schedules and reducing overall capacity.

According to the statement, after the tension in the Middle East, fuel prices have almost doubled. The canceled flights correspond to a volume equivalent to approximately 40,000 tons of jet fuel.

Within the framework of the new planning, especially unprofitable short-haul flights are being reduced, while long-haul flights are maintained.

The company has already started canceling about 120 flights daily and stated that routes will be readjusted in the coming months.

Other companies in the sector are also taking similar measures. It is noted that risks in the European aviation sector are increasing amid the fuel crisis.
