The court case regarding Diego Sánchez, considered one of the legends in UFC history, has concluded. The famous athlete, who was tried for a sensational incident that occurred in July 2025, narrowly avoided going to prison.
Medianews.az reports, citing Oxu.Az, that the judge sentenced Sánchez to five years of probation and 800 hours of community service. Although the public prosecutor insisted on imprisoning the former fighter for two years, the court opted for a lighter punishment.
It is recalled that Diego Sánchez’s arrest stemmed from a traffic incident on the Albuquerque highway in July 2025, during which he fired a gun from his car window. During his testimony in court, the athlete emphasized that his action was not intended to harm anyone and described it as a serious mistake.
According to the verdict, Sánchez is officially prohibited from possessing any firearms for the next 10 years. Additionally, throughout the probation period, all of the athlete’s behaviors will be under the special supervision of law enforcement authorities.
It should be noted that Diego Sánchez has long been recognized as one of UFC’s most charismatic and tough fighters. He also made history as the winner of the first reality show "The Ultimate Fighter" held by the organization.
