Azerbaijan has decided to become a founding member state of the Peace Council established by US President Donald Trump. In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 21, it was said that Donald Trump invited the Republic of Azerbaijan to become a founding member state of the organization: "The Republic of Azerbaijan has accepted the said invitation and has informed the US side of its intention to become a founding member state of the Peace Council. An official confirmation letter regarding our country's membership in the Peace Council will be sent to the US side, and the necessary procedures will be carried out within the required framework."
What does being a founding state member of the Peace Council give Azerbaijan and what advantages does it provide?

Regarding the topic, Medianews.az spoke with political analyst Xagani Jafarli, who stated that US-Azerbaijan relations have entered the stage of strategic partnership, and representation in the Peace Council will further positively influence relations between the two countries: “If the Trump administration can transform the Peace Council, as anticipated, into the central institution of the new world order instead of the UN, being a founding member of this institution could provide Azerbaijan with political and diplomatic advantages.”
According to X. Jafarli, the increase and strengthening of Azerbaijan's representation in the global economy and international relations also necessitates the country's more active participation in international institutions: “That is, the changing world brings risks and challenges alongside opportunities. The duty of Azerbaijan's foreign policy is to make maximum use of emerging opportunities and neutralize risks and challenges. For this, it is necessary to be represented in institutions that are products of the international relations system.
If Trump's Peace Council initiative does not materialize due to reasons beyond our control, we will still not be the losing side. Therefore, Azerbaijan's decision to join the Peace Council should be considered a correct move.”
