The hidden danger in bladder cancer: "Every bleeding is a serious signal."

Bleeding in the urine, especially in individuals over 40 years old and smokers, can be a sign of a serious disease.

Medianews.az reports that this was stated by Turkish urologist Bülent Altay.

According to him, bladder tumors can be detected at an early stage with cystoscopy, and even the smallest bleeding should not be overlooked.

The specialist noted that bladder cancer can be seen in both women and men, and smoking is one of the main risk factors. The disease often manifests itself with painless bleeding.

Altay stated that although ultrasound, MRI, and computed tomography are used in diagnosis, the most accurate method is cystoscopy. During this examination, even millimeter-sized tumors can be identified with a camera inserted through the urethra.

He emphasized that tumors are divided into two types, superficial and invasive; the superficial forms are treated endoscopically but require regular monitoring due to the possibility of recurrence. In invasive cases, more radical surgeries, including bladder removal, may be necessary.

The doctor added that in cases of late diagnosis, the disease progresses to a more severe stage and chemotherapy may be needed. For this reason, it is vital to report even the smallest bleeding in the urine to a doctor on time.
