A new ban may be imposed on labor migrants in Saint Petersburg

The Saint Petersburg police will propose a ban on labor migrants working in wholesale and retail trade. This measure aims to prevent foreign citizens from being registered as warehouse workers or consultants but actually working as security guards.

Oxu.Az reports that this was stated by Roman Plugin, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

He recalled that according to legislation, foreign citizens are prohibited from working as security guards. According to Plugin, the new initiative will be prepared following the example of restrictions already applied to taxi drivers and couriers.
