"I started as a dancer, it's embarrassing, why do you lie?" - PHOTO+EXCLUSIVE

“Some people falsely say on air that they have worked together with Rashid Behbudov. Perhaps they have never even seen him closely once. It is not a problem when some women say this, but the issue is that men say it. It’s shameful! Why is it even necessary?! It’s a lie! It makes one laugh! Before me, Ilhama Guliyeva, Tamara Agamirova, Eldar Akhundov worked with him. Eldar Akhundov brought me to teacher Rashid. One day he said that teacher Rashid needed a soloist. At that time, Eldar and I were soloists of Oqtay Kazimi’s pop orchestra in Sumgait. I am talking about 1969-70. After me, Khadija Abbasova came there. Once, Khadija saw me on the street and said, ‘Everyone tells me that I look like Ruhangiz.’ I said that she is even more beautiful than me. Later, Akif Islamzade, Cavan Zeynalli, Firuze Ibadova, Kamala Rahimli, Almaz Alasgarli, and Sabina Ilyasova worked together with teacher Rashid.”

This was said by honored artist Ruhangiz Musavi in her statement to Medianews.az.

She added further: “Teacher Rashid himself was filming a movie. He temporarily freed us [from work]. At that time, I both acted in movies and also went to the Philharmonic. They hired me first of all as a dancer in the Philharmonic. This is the first time I am saying this. People’s artist Khumar Zulfuqarova was the artistic director of the ensemble. I worked there for a short time and realized that it was not for me. Then I returned to my own singing art.”

Ruhangiz Musavi stated that although Rashid Behbudov invited her again to the theater, she did not go for certain reasons: “In 1976, I got married. Some time passed. One day, Kamil Vezirov called me. He was the artistic director of the ensemble. He said, ‘Hey Ruhangiz, come work with Rashid Behbudov again.’ They used to have touring trips. They basically went on tour every month. At that time I took my daughter and went to teacher Rashid. I told him that I could not leave my daughter and go on tour trips. Thanks to him, he understood me. An artist and master like him took me like a child and walked me to the door. See what a humble person he was. I always say with joy that he is my teacher.”
