What to do to avoid getting very thirsty while fasting?

While fasting, we stay without water for about 15-16 hours. If we do not eat properly, this can cause the blood to thicken. Therefore, some measures should be taken at imsak and iftar so that the feeling of thirst is not too strong and the blood does not thicken. So, how can we reduce the feeling of thirst during the period we are fasting?

Milli.Az reports that during Ramadan, we should eat in such a way that we feel good when we are without water. This is also very important for being able to fast in the following days.

It is recommended to drink at least 3 liters of plain water between iftar and imsak in summer, and 1 liter in winter. This does not include tea and fruit juices. Because they expel the water in the body, therefore preference should be given only to plain water.

Do not drink too much water after iftar. Divide your daily water requirement of 8-10 glasses between iftar and imsak. At suhoor, drink a maximum of 3 glasses, and after iftar, drink 1-2 glasses every hour.

At suhoor:

Reduce oily and salty foods. Also use such cheeses sparingly. Avoid fried foods completely. These foods increase the need to drink water. Make sure to wake up for suhoor and eat slowly, finishing in at least half an hour. Give preference to foods with a high water content. Since the digestion of these foods will be slow, it will meet your water needs throughout the day. Excessive drinking of tea or coffee is not allowed. Many think that tea eliminates thirst. This is a wrong belief. Eating 4-5 olives at suhoor is enough; more than that is unnecessary. Eating too many olives will cause you to feel thirsty.

At iftar:

Start the iftar meal with soup or dovga, then wait for at least half an hour. Do not burden the stomach, which has been empty for a long time, all at once. This can cause quick thirst and various discomforts. Avoid sweets after the iftar meal. Instead, use fruits with high water content.
