"As the state's capabilities increase, Armenian border guards will be gradually deployed at certain sections of the border with Iran and Turkey."
"Qafqazinfo," citing the Armenian press, reports that the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement about this during a briefing.
"We also pay Russian border guards for border protection. There have been cases where our Russian partners have raised the issue of increasing the payment, because the existing funds are not sufficient to provide this service," he said.
He stated that they are considering the advisability of directing funds that could be spent on increasing the payment towards expanding the capabilities of Armenia's own border guards.
According to Pashinyan, Russian partners can continue working for a reasonable amount for Armenia, and the remaining part will be gradually taken over by Armenian border guards.
