The Supreme Court of Russia has released life imprisonment statistics.
Medianews.az reports that according to the report, in 2025, 100 people were sentenced to life imprisonment. This is the highest figure since the statistics were recorded starting from 2005.
The official statement notes that between 2005 and 2025, 1,416 people were sentenced to life imprisonment, with a record noted in 2005 and 2012: 84 people.
As for recent years, 66 people were sentenced in 2020, 47 in 2021, 58 in 2022, 78 in 2023, and 79 in 2024 to life imprisonment.
